Isolation and Reading

Ellie on April 11th, 2020 5:46pm

I didn't sleep last night and this morning as I read, I felt the space between chapters, pages, paragraphs, and words calmly expanding. I knew it was soon inevitable that I would no longer be able to connect them, that somehow the distance between two words would become impassable. None of my mental vehicles would make the journey. Eventually they would run out of fuel as the words discovered they could breathe and push their neighbors further and further away. That they could dance by themselves. So have we.

The song I was listening to as this happened was Golden Slumbers—I do not remember what it was I reading, this seems fitting.
